Bergstrom earns supplier quality award from Caterpillar.
Rockford, Illinois (February 20, 2008) Bergstrom, Inc., was awarded the coveted Supplier Quality Excellence Process award by Caterpillar in a ceremony held at the company’s Rockford headquarters. The award was presented by Susan Heun, Caterpillar’s Purchasing Director for Components and Latin America, and Dave Berner, Caterpillar’s Cabs Segment Purchasing Manager. Accepting the award for Bergstrom were Dave Rydell, CEO, and Jack Shaffer, President and COO.
The Supplier Quality Excellence Process is a rigorous program that requires demonstrated process control capability and 6 Sigma discipline in driving continuous improvement. Supplier quality is key to maintaining Caterpillar’s position as a leader in quality, and achieving SQEP certification shows Bergstrom’s commitment to becoming a world-class supplier to Caterpillar.
Bergstrom achieved the certification in the first year of the program, and was the 15th Caterpillar supplier to receive the award. It is also Caterpillar’s first HVAC supplier to earn the honor. Bergstrom has been a supplier to Caterpillar for over 50 years.
The ceremony took place with 10 members from Caterpillar and the entire Bergstrom plant shift in attendance. Bergstrom’s Shaffer read the cheering audience a letter of appreciation from Thomas L. Holt, Caterpillar’s Product Manager—Operation Environment/Interface, that complimented Bergstrom on their quality results.
While accepting the award, Shaffer stated to the employees in attendance, “All of you have worked diligently to help us achieve this. We could not have done it without the personal commitment to quality from each of you.” Following the awards presentation, a luncheon was held honoring the Caterpillar team and the Bergstrom employees.
